Bangkok Pub Raid Nets Nigerian Dealer, Dozens Test Positive for Drugs
A tip-off to a narcotics hotline led to the early morning arrest of a Nigerian drug dealer and the discovery of twenty-two individuals under the influence of illicit substances during a major raid on a Bangkok entertainment venue this Saturday. The operation, which involved over one hundred officers, targeted the establishment in the Ratchaprarop area following a two-month investigation, the Bangkok Post reported.

Pol Maj Suriya Singhakamol, the secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), confirmed that a report of illegal activities at the Ratchathewi district venue was submitted via the 1386 hotline. The investigation revealed that a Nigerian man, alongside his Thai wife, was actively selling drugs on the premises, which remained open until 7am daily.
The raid was launched at 5am, catching more than 120 Thai and foreign patrons inside. Authorities apprehended the Nigerian national, whose identity remains undisclosed, after finding him in possession of 12 grammes of cocaine. Two staff members were also taken into custody with packets of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine in their possession.

From the 127 individuals detained for testing, a total of eleven Thais and eleven foreigners provided urine samples that tested positive for illegal narcotics. The search of the venue also uncovered a quantity of other substances, including many balloons intended for the inhalation of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.

All suspects were transported to the Din Daeng police station to face legal prosecution. Foreign nationals among them are set to be handed over to the Immigration Bureau for deportation proceedings. In a separate legal action, the Ratchathewi district office has filed charges against the venue’s manager for operating the business without a valid permit and for remaining open outside of legally permitted hours.
