PHUKET — A major drug trafficking operation with global connections has been disrupted after Thai authorities arrested two suspects linked to a Nigerian kingpin, seizing millions of baht worth of heroin in the process.

The takedown came after an extensive investigation by the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), which led officers to a hotel in Phuket where 7 kilograms of heroin—with an estimated street value of 7 million baht—were discovered. The drugs were traced back to a sophisticated smuggling network allegedly controlled by a Nigerian national known only as “Mark.”
The two suspects—33-year-old Jutatip Chuaydoo and 39-year-old Saknarong Onruti—were apprehended in Trang province under warrants issued by the Phuket Provincial Court.
Jutatip faces charges for methamphetamine possession and distribution, as well as drug consumption. Saknarong was wanted for heroin trafficking, with police alleging he played a key role in transporting narcotics across borders.

Investigators revealed that the pair had been hired by “Mark” to move heroin from Vientiane, Laos, to international buyers in Hong Kong and India, earning 100,000 baht per trip.
“These suspects were crucial cogs in a much larger machine,” said a senior CSD officer. “Their arrests will significantly disrupt this syndicate’s operations.”
During interrogation, both suspects reportedly admitted their involvement in the drug ring. They have since been transferred to Thalang Police Station in Phuket for further legal proceedings.

Authorities are now working with international agencies to track down “Mark,” who remains at large. Meanwhile, the case highlights Thailand’s ongoing struggle against transnational drug networks, particularly those involving African and local operatives.
