Pattaya Police Rescue Woman Held Hostage by Chinese Gang
PATTAYA – Police successfully rescued a 20-year-old Thai woman who was allegedly held captive by a Chinese criminal gang in a Jomtien hotel after being accused of embezzling 200,000 baht. The operation was launched on October 8, 2025, following a distress message from the victim to her brother, who immediately alerted authorities.

The rescue effort began when a Pattaya resident, contacted Pattaya City Police Station after receiving a desperate message from his younger sister stating she had been abducted and detained. Officers quickly coordinated a search of hotels in the Jomtien area, using GPS coordinates provided by the victim to locate the exact room where she was being held. A tactical team stormed the premises and secured her safe release without injury.
According to the victim’s statement, she had responded to a Facebook post offering payment for opening bank accounts to be used for financial transactions. Facing personal financial difficulties, she agreed to meet the individuals who subsequently picked her up from the entrance of Walking Street in South Pattaya. After being driven around Pattaya and Si Racha in multiple vehicles, she was taken to the Jomtien hotel and confined.

She explained that after surrendering her bank details, a group of six to seven Chinese nationals confiscated her phone and ATM card, then forced her to withdraw money while allowing her to keep none of it. The gang later accused her of stealing 200,000 baht and threatened her with violence unless she confessed. She was blindfolded and held under guard in the locked hotel room.
The victim managed to deceive her captors by pretending to need her phone to contact a friend about opening additional accounts. Instead, she secretly sent her location to her brother, enabling the police rescue operation. During the raid, officers apprehended one Chinese man who was guarding her. The suspect has so far refused to cooperate with investigators.
