Flooding Holds Steady Across 19 Thai Provinces as Waters Slowly Recede
BANGKOK – Widespread flooding persisted across 19 provinces on Wednesday, primarily affecting regions of the Central Plain and the Northeast, with water levels largely holding stable or showing slight signs of receding. The situation remains most critical in the Central Plain, where eight provinces continue to grapple with significant inundation.

According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the provinces of Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, and Nakhon Pathom are the hardest hit. While water levels remained unchanged in Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ayutthaya, and Nakhon Pathom, officials reported a decrease in flooding across Uthai Thani, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, and Pathum Thani. The Royal Irrigation Department noted that the Chao Phraya River was flowing through the Chao Phraya Barrage in Chai Nat at a stable rate of 2,400 cubic meters per second.

In the Northeast, flooding continues in Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Phichit, and Nakhon Sawan. Water levels were steady in Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Nakhon Sawan, while conditions were improving in Uttaradit, Phetchabun, and Sukhothai. Four additional northeastern provinces—Chaiyaphum, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Yasothon—also reported flooding, with water levels remaining stable. The sole eastern province affected is Chachoengsao, where flood levels were reported to be rising in the Bang Nam Prieo district.

The Meteorological Department forecasts a shift in weather patterns from Thursday through next Tuesday, predicting a decline in rainfall for the North and Northeast, while the Central Plain, the East, and the South are expected to experience an increase in precipitation.
