Naked New Year’s Revelry Lands Norwegian Tourist in Custody in Udon Thani

UDON THANI, Thailand – A Norwegian tourist’s New Year’s celebration culminated in an arrest after he was discovered naked and intoxicated in a public alley on the morning of January 1st. Police in Udon Thani responded to alarmed resident reports at approximately 9:40 a.m., leading to the detention of 28-year-old Mr. H.

Eyewitnesses described the man performing push-ups in a state of undress, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings. His clothing and shoes were later retrieved from a nearby canal. Following his apprehension, officers escorted Mr. H. to his apartment building to dress. Police confirmed his identity with a valid passport and returned 3,500 Thai baht discovered in his possession.

In a statement to authorities, Hansen admitted to heavy drinking during New Year’s Eve festivities in the area. He claimed his friends had departed earlier in the night and that by 2 a.m., he was too inebriated to remember his subsequent actions, which included public nudity and wandering. The arrest followed multiple complaints, including from a 13-year-old girl who reported encountering the naked man as he attempted to force open a toilet door before walking away.

The caretaker at Mr. H.’s apartment, confirmed the Norwegian had resided there for about a month. The property owner now intends to request his departure. Further reports indicate Mr. H. also caused a disturbance at a local shopping center prior to his arrest.
