NONTHABURI – A cargo tug boat lost control and crashed into multiple riverside homes along the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi during the early hours of Tuesday, causing three houses to collapse into the water and forcing residents to evacuate abruptly. The incident, which occurred around 1:00 AM in Ko Kret, Pak Kret District, resulted in significant property damage though no fatalities have been reported.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the vessel struck the homes. Ms. Saipin, 66, recounted hearing loud noises and seeing sparks before escaping through a window with her sister and grandchild. The collision destroyed her recently renovated home along with her brother’s neighboring property, representing a combined loss of approximately 2.3 million baht in renovations alone.

The vessel’s captain, Mr. Toen, 30, attributed the accident to steering failure amid strong river currents while transporting gypsum from Bang Pa-in to Samut Prakan. His wife assisted in attempting to regain control after the collision.
