BANGKOK — Customs officers at Suvarnabhumi International Airport intercepted a 68-year-old Australian man attempting to smuggle 4.26 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice,” to Perth on Sunday night.

The discovery was made after X-ray scans detected anomalies in the suspect’s luggage, prompting a detailed inspection. Officers uncovered 12 black plastic-wrapped packages concealed in a specially designed compartment, all testing positive for methamphetamine. The haul, with an estimated street value of AU$61,500 (1.3 million baht), was seized, and the suspect is now under interrogation by anti-narcotics authorities.
