A soldier helping a policeman on a Kalasin road checkpoint was shot and wounded late Tuesday afternoon before two alleged drug couriers were arrested.

Police said Sgt Jiraphan Thongphubal was shot three times by a motorcycle pillion rider at the checkpoint in the village of Ban Por Daeng in Yang Talad district’s Tambon Na Dee.
