Mexican-Canadian Tourist Dies in Fall from Phuket Hotel Balcony

PHUKET – A tourist holding Mexican and Canadian citizenship died on Monday afternoon after falling from the ninth floor of a hotel in Phuket’s Patong district. The 33-year-old woman, identified only as Miss Denise, was found in the hotel’s parking area on Thaweewong Road shortly before 2 p.m.

Authorities, including Patong Police, Tourist Police, and a forensic doctor, responded to the scene. Hotel staff reported that the guest had checked in alone at approximately 1:30 p.m. for a single-night stay. Police discovered her sandals positioned on the balcony of her room, suggesting she had stepped out before the fatal fall.

Police Captain Channarong Prakongkuea confirmed coordination with the Mexican Embassy and other agencies is underway. The victim’s dual nationality has necessitated international diplomatic liaison.

Her body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and clarify the circumstances.
