BANGKOK – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul embarked on a one-day official visit to Singapore today, with a key focus on finalizing a significant five-year rice trade agreement between the two nations. The trip, undertaken at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, also commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two ASEAN partners.

According to Government Spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks following official welcoming ceremonies. A central outcome of these discussions will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will see Singapore import 100,000 tons of Thai rice over the next five years, securing a stable food supply for the city-state and guaranteeing a key export market for Thai farmers.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes a courtesy call on Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and a keynote address at the SET Government Roadshow 2025, where he will meet with regional investors. Before returning to Bangkok, Anutin is scheduled to meet with the Thai community residing in Singapore.
