UDON THANI – A 49-year-old man in Udon Thani province has publicly pledged to cease eating dog meat after a delivery driver witnessed him consuming raw dog flesh, an incident that was captured on video and prompted a visit from local authorities. The incident came to light when a deliveryman arrived at Sawai’s residence on Tuesday morning and observed him chopping and eating raw dog meat. The deliveryman recorded a video, which subsequently led police and livestock officials to investigate the matter on Wednesday. During questioning, Sawai explained that he had killed a black-and-white stray dog after it attempted to bite him while he was crab hunting in a rice field. He confessed to eating the dog’s raw liver before roasting and consuming additional parts of the animal with alcohol.

Sawai claimed he was unaware that killing dogs for consumption was illegal and stated that neighbors often provided him with carcasses of dogs that had been hit by vehicles or had attacked poultry. As the dog in question was a stray and no formal complaint has been filed, police confirmed they lack grounds for legal action.
