Malaysian Traveller Dies of Heart Attack During Transit at Suvarnabhumi Airport

BANGKOK, Thailand – A 53-year-old Malaysian passenger collapsed and later died of a heart attack during a transit at Suvarnabhumi Airport, according to a report by Bernama on Wednesday, the Bangkok Post reported.

The man, a native of Kedah state, was travelling with his family from Kuala Lumpur to Hokkaido and was waiting for a connecting flight to Japan at Suvarnabhumi when he collapsed. He was transported to a hospital, where he was declared dead in the early hours of Monday. The name of the hospital and the airline involved were not disclosed.

Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand, Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, told Bernama that the family members had claimed the body and returned to Kedah by land via the Sadao border crossing in Songkhla on Wednesday. The ambassador added that the family did not request an autopsy.

The Malaysian embassy in Bangkok provided consular assistance to the family during the difficult process. The cause of death has been confirmed as a heart attack, and no further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have been released.
