Homemade Bomb Accident Claims Life in Nong Khai
NONG KHAI – A 22-year-old man was killed instantly when an improvised explosive device he was assembling detonated prematurely at a residence in Nong Khai’s Sakhrai district. The incident occurred at a house in tambon Ban Fang, where the victim and a 24-year-old companion were reportedly constructing a pipe bomb using materials extracted from firecrackers.

Police responding to the scene discovered the deceased victim on a bamboo platform with his left hand completely severed by the blast force, with tissue fragments scattered throughout the area. The surviving companion sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment. An initial examination of the site revealed multiple metal pipes, nails, glass beads, and other bomb-making components, along with significant structural damage including a hole torn through the roof.
