Royal Thai Navy Refutes Fake News Claiming Abuse of Cambodian Migrants
The Royal Thai Navy has issued a clarification following allegations by Cambodian media outlet “Koh Santepheap Daily”, claiming that Thai authorities assaulted, extorted, and abused Cambodian migrant workers who had illegally crossed the border through a natural passage in Pong Nam Ron District of Chanthaburi Province. The Royal Thai Navy has thoroughly investigated the facts and confirms that the information is false and no such incident occurred.

According to the Navy, all operations carried out by its personnel strictly adhere to Thai law and international human rights standards. Arrests involving illegal border crossings are conducted jointly with relevant security agencies and executed as part of coordinated task force operations. The Navy emphasized that its officers perform their duties with politeness, transparency, and full respect for the human dignity of all migrants, in accordance with international principles.

The Royal Thai Navy also urged the public to rely on verified information from official government agencies and called on media organizations to refrain from disseminating false or misleading reports that may cause misunderstandings or create unnecessary harm.
