Phuket Police Hunt Foreign Quartet in Distraction Theft at Mall

PHUKET – Authorities in Phuket are searching for at least four foreign nationals following a coordinated shoplifting incident at a Patong shopping mall. The suspects allegedly stole multiple wallets and cardholders from a leather goods store on November 17th, with surveillance footage capturing their method of operation.

CCTV evidence shows a man in a white shirt deliberately distracting store staff while two female accomplices concealed merchandise in a paper bag and behind a mobile phone before leaving the premises. A hotel employee later identified the distracting male as Omar Youssef, who had previously caused a disturbance at a local hotel. While social media speculation suggests the group may be Jordanian nationals, police have not confirmed their identities or nationalities.

The incident follows another unrelated theft the previous day, where a foreign man was recorded stealing sunglasses from a different Phuket store. Although both cases remain unsolved, investigators have not established any connection between them. Local businesses have been alerted as police continue their search for the suspects.
