One Dead, Nine Injured in Suphan Buri Van-Truck Collision

SUPHAN BURI – A passenger van transporting ten people to a hospital crashed into a six-wheel truck making a U-turn on Monday morning, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries. The accident occurred at approximately 7:05 AM near Wat Laothong in the Mueang district.

Police investigator Pol Sub Lt Santiphong Khamchun and rescue teams arrived at the scene to find an overturned van with severely damaged structure and multiple passengers trapped inside. Emergency personnel provided immediate first aid before transporting all victims to Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital. One male passenger later succumbed to his injuries.

Initial reports indicate the van, registered in Uthai Thani province, was carrying six women and four men to Thammasat Hospital when the collision occurred. According to preliminary investigation, a covered six-wheel truck suddenly turned across the lane at a U-turn point, leaving the van driver insufficient time to brake. The impact caused the van to strike the truck’s side and overturn.

Police have detained the truck driver for questioning at Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station. The van driver will be interviewed after receiving medical treatment. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to establish the precise sequence of events and determine potential negligence or traffic violations. Further legal action will depend on the investigation’s findings.
