Ugandan Women Arrested for Alleged Prostitution in Pattaya Hotel Operation

PATTAYA – Pattaya police have arrested two Ugandan women for allegedly operating a commercial sex service from a hotel room in the city’s central entertainment district. The operation, led by Colonel Songwut Chuepholakit, took place opposite Soi 13 in South Pattaya following numerous complaints from international tourists.

The suspects, aged 31 and 40, were detained under the Prostitution Prevention and Suppression Act after police investigated reports of solicitation near Pattaya Beach. Tourists had described being approached aggressively by foreign women who used persistent tactics to attract customers, at times demanding payments and causing public disturbances.

The crackdown is part of a broader directive issued by Police Major General Sak Siri Phuak Aum, Chief of the Tourist Police, targeting criminal activities that negatively impact Thailand’s tourism environment, particularly those involving foreign offenders. The two women now face charges related to soliciting prostitution in a manner that caused a public nuisance.

Authorities emphasized that approaches made on streets or in public areas that cause discomfort or shame to others are illegal and will be strictly enforced. The case underscores ongoing efforts to maintain order and safety in Pattaya, a key tourist destination, and to curb activities that tarnish the city’s hospitality environment.
