PATTAYA — A 47-year-old shop worker narrowly escaped a violent robbery and attempted sexual assault in a deserted Pattaya building on August 30, sustaining injuries that required medical treatment. The victim, identified only as Ms. B, is urging police to swiftly apprehend the suspect, warning he may target other women or tourists in the area.

The attack occurred around 11:16 p.m. in Soi Phratamnak 6, where the assailant—a Thai man in his 30s or 40s of medium build—lured Ms. B by falsely claiming a foreigner had collapsed. Believing it might be her husband, she followed him into the darkness of the unlit alley. The man then pressed a knife against her waist, forced her into the abandoned Ruamchok Building 6, and threatened to rape and kill her if she resisted.

When her phone rang, the attacker grew enraged, beating her, slamming her head against a wall, and cutting off her clothes with the knife. He stole her phone and 300 baht in cash before she managed to kick him and flee on her motorcycle. Ms. B reported the incident to Pattaya City Police the next morning, suffering bruises, a head hematoma, and a mouth laceration requiring five stitches.

Police are investigating the scene at 419 Soi Phra Tamnak 6, an abandoned structure showing signs of temporary habitation by scrap collectors. No occupants responded during inquiries. The case has heightened safety concerns in poorly lit areas of Pattaya, with authorities under pressure to intensify patrols and expedite the manhunt.
