Landslide Prompts Partial Closure at Chiang Mai’s Huai Nam Dang National Park

CHIANG MAI – Huai Nam Dang National Park has temporarily shuttered its popular Doi Kiew Lom viewpoint and several lodgings after a landslide and falling trees damaged infrastructure, posing safety risks to visitors. The incident occurred Sunday when a large tree collapsed onto a tourist lodge and nearby power poles, prompting immediate action from park authorities.

Safety Measures Implemented

Park Chief Nawi Silsupakul announced the Doi Kiew Lom viewpoint will remain closed until August 17 to allow the Provincial Electricity Authority to repair damaged power lines. Additionally, online reservations for lodges 103, 104, and 105 have been suspended through September 30 to facilitate structural repairs and landscape restoration.
