Police are working to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine legal liability. While initial accounts suggest the conflict originated between the couple, the involvement of additional parties has complicated the case. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing neighbors to establish who instigated the violence.
No arrests have been made as of press time.
