In Phuket, 53-year-old Wang Yang was killed when a tree, uprooted by powerful winds, collapsed onto a beach bench where she and her husband were resting on Koh He island. While her husband escaped with minor injuries, Wang was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, in Krabi, 34-year-old Shin Yushi drowned after being swept away by rough seas off Koh Lanta. According to Mu Koh Lanta National Park chief Chaiyaphreuk Weerawong, Shin was swimming with a friend when strong currents pulled him under. His body was recovered about one kilometer from the shore.
The storm also caused a cargo boat en route from Krabi to Phi Phi Island to capsize, leaving its driver stranded at sea for four hours before being rescued by a passing trawler.
Gusting winds and a storm-tossed sea claimed the lives of two Chinese tourists on Sunday, and weathermen on Monday warned of continued downpours as the after-effects of Typhoon Wipha continue to pound parts of Thailand.

The Meteorological Department has warned that Wipha’s remnants will continue to bring heavy rain and turbulent seas through Thursday, with Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Mukdahan, and Nakhon Phanom provinces at highest risk of flash floods and landslides. Coastal areas are also bracing for hazardous waves.
As Thailand’s popular Andaman coast reels from the storm’s impact, authorities urge tourists and residents to exercise extreme caution, avoid beaches, and stay updated on weather advisories. The tragic incidents underscore the dangers posed by the unpredictable weather system, which has already disrupted travel and claimed lives.
