Criminal Court dismisses bail revocation request against UDD leaders

BANGKOK, 18 April 2014 (NNT) – The Criminal Court has turned down the request by Democrat Party members to have the bail of two core leaders of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) lifted, citing insufficient evidence of their bail condition violations.

The court today deliberated whether or not to revoke the bail previously granted to UDD core leaders Nattawut Saikua and Jatuporn Prompan on allegations that they had broken their bail conditions. Before the session, the lawyer representing the duo requested the judges to postpone their consideration to May 8, reasoning that his clients were both ill. However, the request was rejected as the two defendants were not required to appear in court.
