Phuket Authorities Bust Illegal Shisha Operation Near School

PHUKET – A shop owner in Phuket’s Kathu district has been arrested for operating an illegal shisha business near a local school following a coordinated raid on Wednesday night. The operation was launched after authorities received multiple complaints about the vendor secretly providing shisha services to students and other customers.

During the raid, officers confiscated substantial evidence including shisha devices, tobacco products, smoking accessories, used containers, and transaction records. The suspect now faces multiple charges including possession of prohibited imported goods under the Customs Act, violation of Consumer Protection Board regulations governing shisha sales, and operating without an alcohol license.

The arrest forms part of a broader initiative under Governor Nirat Phongsitthithawon’s administration to combat unlawful activities that threaten community safety. The suspect remains in custody at Kathu Police Station as the investigation continues.
