Over 8,000 Pay Respects to Queen Sirikit on First Day
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported that 8,370 people visited the Grand Palace on November 9, the first day the public was permitted to pay respects to the royal remains of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The Bureau of Royal Household opened access to the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall following the 15-day royal merit-making ceremony, with daily visiting hours from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

To manage visitor flow, the BMA deployed staff and volunteers across the site to coordinate traffic, provide medical support, provide cleaning services, and offer public assistance. Teams were positioned at key points to provide directions, manage entry and exit, and ensure orderly access to service areas.

Waiting zones around the Grand Palace can accommodate up to 9,000 people and are equipped with drinking water stations, restrooms, and round-the-clock support personnel to assist visitors as needed.
