KOH PHANGAN – A 45-year-old Israeli tourist tragically drowned off the coast of Koh Pha Ngan after successfully saving his son from dangerous sea currents. Sagi Mor perished on November 19th during a family vacation after ensuring his child’s safety by handing the boy to another tourist before being swept away by powerful waves.

According to accounts from the scene, Mor had indicated his intention to swim to nearby rocks before a strong current pulled him beneath the surface. His wife, Inbal, immediately alerted emergency services and the Israeli Embassy, initiating a massive search operation that mobilized over 160 volunteers alongside local authorities. The search continued through challenging weather conditions until Mor’s body was recovered and identified the following day.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has confirmed the tragedy and is coordinating the repatriation of Mor’s remains to Israel. His wife expressed profound gratitude to the volunteer rescuers, acknowledging their efforts during the family’s devastating loss.
