Stray Bullet from Myanmar Border Clash Forces Thai School Evacuation
MAE SOT – Intense fighting between Myanmar military forces and armed opposition groups spilled across the Thai border on November 21st when a stray bullet landed inside a primary school in Tak province, prompting the emergency evacuation of 345 students. The incident occurred as clashes erupted opposite Mae Kon Kan village in Mae Sot district, creating panic during the school’s sports day activities.
Thai Air Force Deploys F-16s to Intercept Myanmar Aircraft Near Border
The confrontation began when Myanmar’s 22nd Light Infantry Division launched a heavy weapons assault on opposition fighters stationed at the Pa Sak base in Myawaddy township. The exchange of military-grade gunfire and artillery, supplemented by drone strikes from anti-government forces, sent a single round across the border into Ban Mae Kon Kan School. School director Lt Thawatchai Saengplaeng immediately canceled the event and arranged for student evacuation as fighting continued just hundreds of meters away.

Thai security forces from the Ratchamanu Task Force and Border Patrol Police have maintained heightened alert status along the frontier, where violence has persisted for over a month. The incident has intensified concerns among border communities, with authorities warning residents to avoid the area due to ongoing risks from stray projectiles. Meanwhile, more than 100 Myanmar nationals have crossed the Moei River seeking refuge from the escalating conflict.
