Thai Woman Dies in Fall from Building in Cambodian Border Town Poipet
SA KAEO – A 27-year-old Thai woman died on Wednesday after falling from the fourth floor of a building in Poipet, a Cambodian border town known for its concentration of casinos and suspected scam operations. The victim was identified as Kanokwan Chaluaysaeng, originally from the Non Nong Wat community in Khon Kaen’s Muang district.

Rescue workers and police confirmed the incident, which occurred on October 29, 2025. According to a Thai rescue team operating in the area, the building is owned by a Cambodian customs official and had been leased to a Chinese-run business. Local sources described the premises as being used for online stock trading, with reports of some workers being held under forced conditions.

Authorities are notifying the victim’s relatives, who are expected to travel to Sa Kaeo province to repatriate her body. The tragic event marks at least the second such incident this year involving a Thai national in Poipet, following the death of a 31-year-old man from Kanchanaburi who reportedly fell from a building in January.
