Indian National Arrested in Phuket for Overstaying Visa by 107 Days

PHUKET – Immigration police have arrested an Indian national for overstaying his visa by 107 days during a targeted operation in Phuket. The arrest comes as part of a broader crackdown on foreign nationals violating immigration laws in the popular tourist province.

Chinese National Arrested in Pattaya After 678-Day Visa Overstay

The suspect, identified as Mr. T., was apprehended at a condominium in Kathu subdistrict after authorities received a tip about a foreigner overstaying his visa. Officers located Mr. T. in the building’s lobby where he admitted to the violation. During questioning, the Indian national claimed his love for Thailand had led him to remain in the country beyond his permitted stay.

Upon inspection of his passport, immigration officials confirmed Mr. T. had made no attempts to either extend his visa or depart Thailand following its expiration. He has been formally charged with overstaying his visa and transferred to Kamala Police Station for processing. Authorities are now considering adding him to the immigration blacklist, which would bar him from re-entering Thailand in the future.

The arrest forms part of the Immigration Bureau’s ongoing campaign targeting foreign nationals involved in various illegal activities, including unauthorized employment, transnational crime, and nominee shareholding schemes. These measures aim to eliminate unfair competition in the tourism sector, enhance safety for legitimate visitors, and maintain confidence in Phuket as a destination.
