Chinese National Arrested in Pattaya After 678-Day Visa Overstay
PATTAYA — Tourist police have apprehended a Chinese man who overstayed his visa by nearly two years, following a targeted operation in Jomtien. The arrest, made on September 2, highlights ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws in popular tourist destinations.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Liu, was tracked to a petrol station after surveillance led officers to a pool villa where he had been residing. Led by Pol Col Songwut Chueaplarkit and Pol Lt Col Somchanok Chaiprasertsakul, the tourist police team confirmed Liu had remained in Thailand for 678 days beyond his legal stay.
Witnesses reported Liu appeared visibly shaken during the arrest, with trembling hands and a pale complexion. He admitted to possessing no valid passport or documentation. Police transferred him to Pattaya City Police Station for legal processing, where he faces charges for visa overstay and illegal residence.
