German Tourist Killed, Husband Injured in Phang Nga Highway Collision
PHANG NGA – A German woman was killed and her husband severely injured in a tragic traffic accident on a main highway in Phang Nga Province. The incident occurred on the evening of October 18, 2025, when the motorcycle the couple was riding collided with a pickup truck on Phetkasem Road.
German Couple Injured in Violent Khao Lak Home Invasion
The fatal crash took place at approximately 5:20 p.m. near a U-turn in front of Ban Pak Weep School in Takua Pa District. Upon arrival, police and rescue teams from Khao Lak Station discovered a severely damaged motorcycle lying in the road. The body of Mrs. P. S., a German national, was found at the scene where she was pronounced dead instantly. Her husband, Mr. M. J. M. S., who had been operating the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Khao Lak Medical Centre for emergency treatment.

The involved vehicle, an Isuzu pickup truck, remained at the scene with its driver, a local man identified as Mr. Somkid, who is fully cooperating with the police investigation. Initial findings by police investigators suggest the pickup truck was traveling towards Thamueang District at a speed of approximately 100 kilometres per hour. The collision occurred as the motorcycle attempted to cross the lanes to access the U-turn near the school.

Authorities have conducted a thorough evidence collection at the scene. Mr. Somkid was taken to Khao Lak Police Station for questioning and underwent an alcohol test, which returned a negative result. The investigation is ongoing, with traffic investigators and forensic officers examining witness statements, vehicle damage, and available CCTV footage to establish the precise sequence of events and determine potential legal charges. Police have confirmed that the investigation will proceed once Mr. Martin’s condition stabilizes sufficiently for him to provide a statement. In response to the accident, local authorities have announced plans to conduct a safety review of U-turn points along Phetkasem Road to assess potential visibility and traffic management issues.
