American Man and Thai Girlfriend Killed in Tragic Big Bike Accident on Pattaya’s Notorious Curve

A fatal motorcycle crash claimed the lives of an American man and his Thai girlfriend early Sunday morning on a curve in Pattaya known locally for its history of deadly accidents. The incident occurred on Jomtien Second Road, where rescue units were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:10 AM.

Upon arrival, responders discovered the body of 40-year-old L. S. B. from the United States, who had sustained severe chest injuries. His passenger, 31-year-old K. L., was found critically injured nearby. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The couple had been riding a Yamaha 700cc motorcycle, which was found approximately 20 meters from the impact site.

Preliminary investigation indicates the powerful motorcycle failed to navigate the sharp curve, veering into the central divider before sliding across the roadway. The force of the collision was evident from blood traces and tissue fragments discovered on a nearby streetlight pole, marking the severity of the impact.

A local resident who discovered the victims reported the area has witnessed multiple fatal crashes. “I didn’t see the crash happen, but it’s not the first one here,” he stated. “This curve has claimed many lives. People call it a cursed bend.” While some attribute the accidents to supernatural causes, others point to practical dangers including excessive speed, driver error, the sharpness of the turn, and potentially slick road surfaces.

Pattaya Police have launched a full investigation into the incident, reviewing available CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident. The bodies of both victims have been transported to Pattaya Bhatthamakun Hospital for identification and funeral arrangements. The tragedy has renewed concerns among local residents who have repeatedly called for improved safety measures at what many consider Pattaya’s most dangerous stretch of road.
