Authorities estimate the man had been dead for several days prior to the discovery, based on the advanced state of decomposition. The Phu Ping Chiang Mai Police Station was alerted to the find at approximately 5:10 p.m. by the local village headman. Police officers, forensic specialists and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

The body was found roughly two kilometers from the village in a densely wooded area. The deceased was clothed in a t-shirt and long trousers, with a large backpack suspected to belong to him discovered nearby. Preliminary forensic assessment suggests the remains had been at the location for at least one week.

Local villagers and officials confirmed no missing persons reports from the community. While initial speculation points to the possibility of the victim being a tourist who became lost during a trek, authorities have not ruled out foul play pending a complete autopsy.
