Transgender Woman Reports 7,000 Baht Theft by Indian National in Pattaya Guesthouse

Pattaya – A 27-year-old transgender woman, identified only as “Nong,” filed a police report in the early hours of July 18, 2025, accusing an Indian national of stealing 7,000 baht from her during an encounter at a Walking Street guesthouse. The incident has drawn attention to safety concerns in Pattaya’s bustling nightlife district.

According to the victim’s statement, she met the 34-year-old suspect, Mr. N. G., at an Indian-themed bar on Walking Street. After striking up a conversation, the pair decided to continue drinking in the man’s guesthouse room. Nong alleges that once inside, the man persuaded her to take a shower. Upon exiting the bathroom, she reportedly saw him closing a safe and immediately checked her belongings, discovering the missing cash.

When Nong attempted to leave, the situation escalated. She claims the suspect physically prevented her from exiting the room until guesthouse staff, alerted by her cries for help, intervened and contacted tourist police. Officers responding to the scene noted the suspect appeared heavily intoxicated and potentially under the influence of drugs, displaying bizarre behavior including uncontrollable sobbing and erratic movements.

Pattaya City Police took Mr. G. into custody but faced challenges during initial questioning as the suspect remained incoherent and agitated. Authorities are awaiting his sobriety to proceed with formal interrogation. Investigators have secured surveillance footage from the guesthouse and are reviewing evidence to determine the sequence of events.

“This case highlights the vulnerabilities that can arise in nightlife interactions,” said Pol. Capt. Somchai Boonmee, the investigating officer. “We’re treating all allegations seriously and will ensure due process is followed once the suspect is fit for questioning.”

The incident has sparked discussions about tourist safety in Pattaya’s entertainment zones, particularly for LGBTQ+ visitors. Police remind both locals and tourists to exercise caution when socializing with strangers and to secure valuables in unfamiliar environments.
