BANGKOK – A 23-year-old Indian national has been apprehended for allegedly robbing a currency exchange booth in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district, making off with nearly 100,000 baht in cash. The suspect, identified as Aman, initially denied involvement but later admitted to the crime, confessing he spent the stolen money on nightlife entertainment.

The arrest came after police, led by Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, reviewed security footage capturing the robbery, which occurred on the evening of 26th May. According to authorities, Aman entered a Silom Road currency exchange brandishing a firearm, threatening staff, and fleeing with approximately 93,000 baht. Investigators revealed this was his second attempt after an earlier failed robbery at another exchange.

Following a manhunt, officers traced Aman to a Samre district apartment, where they recovered clothing matching the suspect’s description, the getaway motorcycle, and around 50,000 baht of the stolen cash. After initially maintaining his innocence, Aman reportedly confessed to acting alone, stating he used the funds for nighttime leisure activities.
