Drunk Indian Tourist Climbs Taxi Roof, Causes Chaos on Pattaya Beach Road

PATTAYA — An intoxicated Indian tourist created an early-morning spectacle after climbing onto the roof of a taxi and refusing to descend, forcing police intervention on Pattaya Beach Road.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on May 29th, when the man, believed to be in his 30s, scaled a white GAC AION electric taxi operated by AV Mee Plus Co. The taxi’s emergency lights flashed as a growing crowd watched the scene unfold, with traffic backing up along the busy strip.

The distressed female driver, en route to morning prayers at a Phratamnak Hill temple, said the tourist had suddenly approached her vehicle, knocking on the door and slurring requests for help. Sensing his extreme intoxication, she refused to let him inside—prompting him to clamber onto the roof. Bystanders and the driver attempted to coax him down but failed, leading to a police call.

Officers arrived to find the man incoherent and uncooperative. After prolonged negotiations, they persuaded him to climb down, at which point he vomited heavily on the sidewalk. Medics provided water to clean him before taking him to a hospital for evaluation.
