Authorities from Sutthisan Police Station had initially responded to reports of a man behaving erratically at the residential complex. Upon arrival, patrol officers encountered 26-year-old Jirasak, who identified himself as a member of a special combat unit while exhibiting signs of possible intoxication. As officers attempted to calmly escort him to the station for questioning, the situation escalated dramatically when Jirasak suddenly seized an officer’s service weapon.
During the chaotic struggle that ensued, two gunshots rang out. One bullet struck the left chest area of Police Corporal Woradon Thirathanaboon’s protective vest, while another round hit Police Corporal Jirayut Racha-ard in the left upper arm. Backup units successfully restrained the agitated suspect and took him into custody at Sutthisan Police Station, where he remains under interrogation. Police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the unexpected attack, with preliminary reports suggesting possible mental health issues or substance abuse may have contributed to the violent outburst.
The swift response from law enforcement prevented further casualties, though the incident has raised concerns about officer safety during routine calls. Police Lieutenant Colonel Sombat Dechakhamphu, the investigating officer, assured the public that all protocols were followed correctly and emphasized the department’s commitment to officer protection measures.

This marks the second violent confrontation between civilians and police in Din Daeng district this month, following a similar incident on July 3 where a suspect attacked officers with a knife.
