PATTAYA — An Australian tourist was hospitalized after being struck by falling debris from a condominium in Pattaya’s Khao Phra Tamnak area on Wednesday evening. The incident also damaged several parked motorcycles near the building’s pool area.

Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation arrived at the scene to assist the 57-year-old victim, identified only as P.S., who suffered injuries to his head, right arm, and right leg. He received immediate first aid before being transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities reported that decorative shim plates detached from the building’s exterior but first struck a steel structure near the pool before hitting the ground, lessening the impact. Witnesses at the scene, including a swimmer in the pool, said the collapse happened suddenly, but others nearby managed to avoid being hit.

Initial investigations by Muang Pattaya police revealed that the fallen components had shown prior signs of damage but had not been repaired. Officers are now working with condominium management to determine liability and ensure building safety standards are met.

The incident has raised concerns about maintenance practices in Pattaya’s high-rise buildings, particularly in older structures. Authorities have urged property owners to conduct regular inspections to prevent similar accidents. The Australian tourist is reported to be in stable condition as investigations continue.
