BANGKOK, 1 August 2014 (NNT) – Bangkok Metro Police has begun implementing strict traffic rules as of August 1st, focusing on pedestrian crossings to facilitate traffic flow. Any violations by pedestrians will incur immediate fines.

Police Major General Nipon Chareonpol said that for example police in nearby stations will observe and make patrols near the Srinakharinwirot University, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok to address the problem of heavy traffic, by directing pedestrians to use zebra-crossings and overhead bridges and obey the traffic signals with the intention of sorting out the mass of people and traffic.
