Bangkok Police pushes on with drug suppression

BANGKOK, 26 June 2014 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police Bureau is determined to continue cracking down on narcotic drugs and is looking to involve all related agencies in the mission.

On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Piriyapinyo stated that efforts to eradicate narcotic substances had been ongoing and fewer culprits were being found compared to the past. Arrests have been made for 27,000 drug-related cases during October 2013-April 2014, a decline from 38,000 cases during the same months a year earlier.
