Man Drowns in Pattaya After Walking on Marker Buoys

The new marker buoys around the designated swimming areas of Jomtien Beach have claimed their first victim. Or, to be more accurate, a young man has fallen off the booms and drowned and the inanimate safety equipment is being blamed for his demise.

Khun Chontawat was in Pattaya with a large group of family members to celebrate his recent graduation from High School. Despite preparing to start university in a few weeks, the 19-year-old decided that it was a good idea to walk along the booms, which are only intended to prevent watercraft from encroaching on vulnerable swimmers.
