NARATHIWAT, Oct 1 – A village head was gunned down on Saturday while he was inspecting the construction of a mosque in troubled Narathiwat’s Chanae district, according to local police.

Waepayunan Sidae, 50, village head of Ban I So was shot three times in his head, arm and torso by a gunman armed with a shotgun, according to Pol Sub Lt Angkun Iampho of Chanae police station.
