Engine problems force Singapore A380 superjumbo to turn back

Singapore – An A380 superjumbo operated by Singapore Airlines Ltd was forced to return to Singapore airport after experiencing engine problems about 20 minutes into the flight, a spokeswoman for the airline said Tuesday.

One of the plane’s four engines shut down after encountering ‘surge and high vibration’ as the plane was ascending on its way to Hong Kong late Monday, the spokeswoman said.
