Emergency decree set to be extended in South Thailand

BANGKOK, April 11 — The emergency decree enforced in the three southern border provinces will be extended for another three months when it expires next week as violence has not eased in the areas, according to National Security Council (NSC) Sec-Gen Tawin Pleansri.

Mr Tawin told reporters after an NSC meeting at Government House Monday afternoon chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasit Piromya, armed forces commanders-in-chief and national security related agencies.
