Tourists and residents stranded in Koh Samui

Worried residents and tourists stayed indoors as low pressure area in southern Thailand has prolonged the unusually heavy rainfall in the tourist island.

At 1.55pm, Bangkok Airways flight PG 103 took off from Suvarnabhumi International with passengers bound for Samui but was not able to land and had return back to Bangkok. Strong winds have rendered it unsafe for flights in the island.

Flights to and from Koh Samui have been cancelled for second day in a row. Officials of Raja Ferry also said they suspended their services due to waves measuring three meters high between Samui and Surat Thani.
