Thailand Sets General Election for February 8, 2026
BANGKOK – Thailand’s Election Commission has officially scheduled the kingdom’s next general election for February 8, 2026. The announcement follows the dissolution of the House of Representatives, which took effect on December 12 after a Royal Decree was issued at the request of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
Election Commission Chief Targets February 8 for General Election
The commission confirmed the electoral timeline, designating February 1, 2026, as the day for advance voting, both within constituencies and from outside. The registration period for advance voting will open on December 20, 2025, and close on January 5, 2026, accommodating voters within constituencies, outside their constituencies, and overseas.

Candidate registration is set to begin later this month. Constituency-based candidates may register from December 27 to 31, 2025. Political parties that have registered constituency candidates may then submit their party-list candidates and nominees for prime minister from December 28 to 31.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Dissolves House, Calls Snap Election
Voters who are unable to cast their ballot on the designated election day must notify authorities within one of two specified periods: either from February 1 to 7, 2026, or from February 9 to 15, 2026. The Election Commission’s announcement sets the stage for a nationwide poll early next year, marking a significant step in Thailand’s democratic process.
