KOH PHANGAN – Koh Phangan police have apprehended three foreign nationals in two distinct operations, resulting in drug and immigration charges. The arrests underscore ongoing law enforcement efforts to curb narcotics activity and visa violations on the popular island.

In the first incident on November 5, officers disguised as joggers raided a rented house in Moo 1 following community reports of suspected drug use. Inside, they discovered a Russian national, identified as 26-year-old Mr. R., and a 28-year-old French citizen named Mr. H., seated at a table with a white powder confirmed to be cocaine. Both men attempted to flee but were swiftly detained. Police confiscated 3.14 grams of cocaine and an ecstasy testing kit. Mr. R. faces charges for cocaine possession, while Mr. H. was charged with drug use. Authorities are investigating the source of the substances and potential connections to broader distribution networks.
In an unrelated case on November 4, immigration police arrested a 34-year-old Ukrainian man, Mr. Y., near Phantip Market in Ban Thong Sala. An inspection revealed he had overstayed his visa by 326 days, having last legally been in the country until December 13, 2024. Mr. Y. admitted to remaining in Thailand illegally and now faces prosecution under the Immigration Act.
