Four Killed, Seven Injured as Pickup Truck Race Ends in Tragedy on Phitsanulok Highway
PHITSANULOK – A high-speed street race between two pickup trucks on Mittraphap Road in Phitsanulok province turned fatal on the evening of November 6th, resulting in four deaths and seven injuries. The chaotic sequence of events began when the two drivers, engaged in a reckless competition, lost control of their vehicles, triggering a chain-reaction collision.

The incident unfolded near a Bangchak petrol station in Samo Khae subdistrict. Emergency responders arrived to find a scene of devastation. One of the racing Isuzu D-Max pickups was severely damaged, containing injured passengers and one deceased elderly woman. A nearby Honda motorcycle lay wrecked on the road, its critically injured rider later succumbing to his wounds at the hospital. The collision continued as one pickup slammed into a parked Nissan truck belonging to a road construction crew, killing one worker instantly and injuring four others.
Pattaya police tackle street racing by Arab tourists
Police investigation revealed a second damaged Isuzu D-Max abandoned approximately 100 meters from the main crash site. Its driver initially fled but was subsequently apprehended. During questioning, he confessed to racing with the other pickup truck. Authorities have confirmed that CCTV footage corroborates the account, showing the two vehicles racing side by side immediately before the fatal loss of control. Both drivers are now in custody facing serious charges for reckless driving causing death and injury as the legal process moves forward.
