China Welcomes Royal Visit as New Milestone in 50-Year Ties
China’s Ambassador to Thailand, Zhang Jianwei, has said the state visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen from November 13 to 17 will be a landmark moment in the 50-year history of China–Thailand relations. The trip will be the first visit by a Thai monarch to China since the two nations established diplomatic ties in 1975.

Zhang noted that the Thai Royal Family has long played a vital role in strengthening bilateral ties. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great granted audiences to several generations of Chinese leaders, while Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother paid an official visit to China in 2000. The then Crown Prince—now His Majesty the King—traveled to China multiple times, and both Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Princess Chulabhorn have been active in promoting cultural, scientific, and educational exchanges.

The Chinese Ambassador said the partnership has grown steadily since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic cooperative framework in 2012. President Xi Jinping’s 2022 visit to Thailand elevated the relationship to the level of a China–Thailand Community with a shared future. Their Majesties have since taken part in key commemorative events marking half a century of diplomatic relations, reinforcing the sense of closeness between the nations.
Zhang also pointed to recent discussions between President Xi and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul as evidence of a partnership that continues to advance across economic, cultural, and regional cooperation.
