Thailand Launches National Crackdown on Foreigners Abusing Visa-Free Entries
Thailand’s Immigration Bureau has launched a nationwide operation targeting foreigners who exploit visa-free entry privileges to conduct illegal activities. The crackdown, announced on November 12th, specifically aims to dismantle networks using tourist visas to engage in cybercrime, human trafficking, and other unlawful operations.
Thai Officials Assess 60-Day Visa-Free Policy’s Economic and Security Impacts
Led by Police Lieutenant General Panumas Boonyalak, the initiative operates under the direct policy guidance of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and National Police Chief Police General Kittirat Panpetch. Authorities revealed that since the beginning of 2025, approximately 2,900 foreigners have already been denied entry for suspected visa abuse.
Thailand Intensifies Crackdown on Student Visa Abuse
Police Major General Cherngron Rimphadi assured that enhanced screening procedures would maintain efficiency, with each additional check taking approximately 45 seconds. While peak-hour travelers might experience wait times exceeding 40 minutes, Thai citizens can utilize automated lanes for processing in about 20 seconds. The bureau emphasized that the operation targets only those abusing the system, with the ultimate goal of attracting high-quality visitors and reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a secure destination.
