Bangkok Prison Chief Removed in VIP Treatment Scandal for Chinese Inmates
BANGKOK – The commander of Bangkok Remand Prison and more than fourteen correctional officers have been abruptly transferred amid an investigation into allegations of systematic special treatment for Chinese inmates linked to transnational criminal networks. The disciplinary action, ordered by the Ministry of Justice, follows a raid that uncovered extensive violations of prison regulations.

The investigation was initiated after complaints from Thai prisoners highlighted unfair privileges granted to certain Chinese detainees. Department of Corrections officials discovered that these inmates received unauthorized benefits including regular visits from women described as models and the ability to employ other inmates as personal servants.

During the raid, authorities confiscated a range of prohibited items including microwave ovens, air conditioning units, kettles, knives, and lighters. These contraband goods had allegedly been smuggled into the facility under the guise of donations.
